Feb 24, 2016  |  Videos
Tim Minchin grew up in Perth and spent his twenties writing songs, playing in bands, acting, accompanying cabaret artists and penning beat poems.

His breakthrough solo comedy show, the Dark Side, won acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2005 and he went on to tour Canada, the US, Europe, Scandinavia and New Zealand - selling out venues such as The Royal Albert Hall and The Sydney Opera House.

In 2009, he was commissioned to write the music and lyrics for Matilda the Musical, a stage adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Matilda which has become one of the most successful musicals of all time and is currently playing to packed houses across the US, Britain, Canada and Australia.

Among many awards in a glittering stage career, Tim was presented with an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters by The University of Western Australia for his contribution to the arts.

His acceptance speech is considered a classic by us at The Learning Press - we hope you agree…
